Good Dads 2.0 Facilitator Training

Join us Wednesday, August 7 in Springfield MO

August 27–29, 2024 | Springfield MO

Thank you for your interest in the Good Dads 2.0 Facilitator Training with Good Dads. The three-day training session is hosted in Springfield, MO. At the event, community leaders will learn everything they need to know to effectively lead a Good Dads 2.0 class.

This three-day training event is all day, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

What is Good Dads 2.0?

Good Dads 2.0 is an evidence-based curriculum developed by Good Dads in 2021–2022. The 15-part curriculum is designed to help any dad (including stepdads, grandfathers, father-figures) and especially at-risk dads to build a safe and stable home for their children and family. The course covers a variety of topics through meaningful and thought-provoking questions, multimedia expert testimonials and educational activities.

How do you build a safe, stable home for yourself and your family when you lack many of the tools necessary to build a solid structure? What does it mean to build a safe home when you didn’t necessarily have one as a child? These are the questions participants will confront in Good Dads 2.0. The course uses an extended construction metaphor to describe the parallels of building a safe, stable structure for a home and the elements necessary for a safe, stable family.

Successful facilitators may be mental health professionals, members of the faith community, members of the recovery community, nonprofit leaders, retired professionals who want to give back, or anyone passionate about empowering at-risk fathers to overcome the barriers they may face.

Good Dads 2.0 covers a variety of relevant, engaging topics, including:
  • Labels, reputations and stereotypes
  • Values
  • Manhood and masculinity
  • Self-confidence
  • Managing as a single parent
  • Stress and anger management
  • Communication and conflict resolution
  • Managing children’s misbehaviors
  • And more!

What to Expect

Good Dads’ skilled Presenters go through the curriculum lesson-by-lesson to equip you with everything you need to know to effectively lead the course. You will sit with small groups but have opportunities to get up and collaborate with others as well as we go through the material. There’s plenty of time to ask questions, role-play scenarios, and otherwise familiarize yourself with the material.

What to Bring

A positive attitude! Business casual dress code is recommended but not required. A light breakfast, lunch, beverages and refreshments are provided on-site all three days. If you have dietary restrictions, we kindly ask that you bring your own food.

Good Dads provides writing materials and print-outs, but some of our trainees also take notes in their own notebooks.
