Good Dads McDonald County
About Good Dads McDonald County
Located in the southwest corner of Missouri, McDonald County is best known for its scenic creeks, rivers and welcoming small-town charm. The county encompasses six towns including Anderson, Goodman, Jane, Lanagan, Noel, Pineville and Southwest City—as well as a number of incorporated and unincorporated communities and villages, including Ginger Blue, Arnett, Tiff City, Simcoe, Havenhurst, Splitlog, McNatt, Coy, Erie, Longview, Hart, Cyclone, Pack, Cove, Bethpage, Powell, May, Caverna, Rocky Comfor, and Jacket.
McDonald County embodies the essence of rural life, characterized by a strong sense of community and deeply rooted family values. It is within this close-knit environment that Good Dads McDonald County is proud to serve; committed to supporting and strengthening the role of fathers within their own families and throughout the broader community.
However, like many rural areas, McDonald County faces significant socioeconomic challenges. Over 17% of residents live below the poverty line, and 46.1% of students are classified as economically disadvantaged. In total, 32.3% of the county’s children are living in poverty. These figures highlight a critical need for community-based support systems that promote family stability and child well-being.
In a region where resources are limited and often require travel to neighboring counties, Good Dads McDonald County offers a much-needed local solution. Through mentorship, education, and community engagement, the organization empowers fathers to take an active, positive role in their children’s lives and their community.
By strengthening fathers, we strengthen families—creating a ripple effect that builds resilience, reduces the risks associated with poverty, and fosters a healthier, more connected community.
