Second-annual charity golf tournament to benefit Good Dads

Good Dads Inc., a nonprofit headquartered in Springfield, MO, is collaborating again with Flintrock Home Builders to host its second-annual charity golf tournament.

Last year’s tournament garnered around $2,500 to benefit the nonprofit. This year’s tournament on Monday, May 19, at Millwood Golf & Racquet Club in Ozark, hopes to bring in even more.

Good Dads, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, relies on community, corporate and individual donations to achieve its mission: Helping kids and communities one dad at a time.

Good Dads is the only nonprofit in the state focused exclusively on supporting father engagement—inspiring, resourcing and encouraging all dads to be more involved in the lives of their children.

“We rely on our community partners like Flintrock to help us reach more dads, especially at-risk dads, in Southwest Missouri,” said Jennifer L. Baker, PsyD, Good Dads founder and director. “It’s wonderful to have their encouragement, recognition and support.”

Claye White, Flintrock marketing manager, said the business is proud to uplift and support the efforts of Good Dads.

“Flintrock is exhilarated to be able to put on this event for the second straight year,” White said. “We hope to see more people from the community participate this year. We had 18 teams last year, and we are already at 18 a month before the tournament. Last year was an abundance of fun, and we raised thousands of dollars to donate to Good Dads and help them help dads all around the state.”

As of the first week of May, 19 local businesses have pledged their support, including Apex Construction, Log Guys, Andy B’s and more. Teams of four will be vying for a $2,500 hole-in-one prize, plus more chances to win.

“Flintrock’s partnership not only increased visibility for the work of Good Dads in the region, but they also supported that work in tangible ways with the funds raised and contributed to our work,” Dr. Baker said. “They know that the best way to help many families is to help fathers. When we do this, communities are safer, schools are stronger, and our economy is more robust.”

There is still time to register for the tournament. Community-focused business leaders, charitable organizations and individuals alike are encouraged to learn more and sign up today.
