Can-Do Collaboration at Good Dads Chapter Orientation

Friday was a very special day at Good Dads! We’re thrilled with the amount of productive brainstorming and positive feedback from the newest members of the Good Dads team after last week’s Chapter Orientation.

Facilitators and advisory board members representing Good Dads chapters throughout the state met at our headquarters in Springfield for a day fueled by insight and action. We were so energized by the enthusiasm from everyone in attendance!

On the Agenda

  • Considering the “head and heart” of your mission to engage fathers in your community
  • Getting a Good Dads group started: Where you begin matters
  • Individualized chapter SWOT analyses
  • What it means to be a Good Dads chapter
  • Media resources available to chapters
  • Enlisting facilitators to lead Good Dads classes in your neighborhood
  • Serving at-risk fathers
  • Five years of funding from the Good Dads Plus Us program
  • Reaching all kinds of fathers with Good Dads Strong Schools
  • Building and maintaining a supportive chapter advisory board
  • Funding your Good Dads mission

Clearly, we covered a lot in just one day, but we were lucky that this group of Good Dads chapter leaders was so invested and responsive. They weren’t shy about asking questions and being imaginative about the potential for the Good Dads mission to transform the way they serve fathers in their community. It was a truly remarkable day!

In the days and weeks that follow, we’re certain that these father-focused individuals will be hard at work putting their plans in place. The beautiful thing about the Good Dads chapter model is that each chapter is different. A small community in Dent County, for instance, will have a different approach to Good Dads programs compared to a more populous town, like Jefferson City.

But one thing remains the same: an unwavering belief that all dads have the potential to be Good Dads. Keep up the great work!
